Dr. Harry L. Pennington knows first-hand how much Jimmy Buffett really loves his dog: so much that the famous entertainer transported the beloved companion on his private plane to the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and brought Dr. Pennington and his wife, Dr. Wendy S. Pennington, along to provide supportive care to the ailing pooch during the flight.

Dr. Pennington is originally from Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Auburn University, where he majored in zoology. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Pennington is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association and the Madison County Veterinary Medical Association. His professional interests include canine medicine and surgery. Dr. Pennington and his wife founded Pennington Animal Hospital in 1992.

Outside the thriving practice, Dr. Pennington is active in the Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville and and a member of First Baptist Church. He and his wife have a son named Matthew and the family cares for five domestic shorthair cats: Sam, Tom, Olive, Pickles and Holly. He enjoys spending time hiking, biking and reading science fiction.

A native of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Dr. Wendy S. Pennington has always been excited by animals. She began volunteering at a local veterinary hospital when she was just 14 years old. Shortly thereafter she was officially hired and continued to work at the hospital during school breaks. In pursuit of a career in veterinary medicine, Dr. Pennington graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from Morehead State University and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with honors from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Pennington is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association and the Madison County Veterinary Medical Association. Her professional interests include felines, internal medicine and dentistry. She co-founded Pennington Animal Hospital in 1992 with her husband, Dr. Harry L. Pennington.

Dr. Pennington and her husband have a son named Matthew and five domestic shorthair cats: Sam, Tom, Olive, Pickles and Holly. In her free time she enjoys cooking, reading, hiking and biking and is a member of the First Baptist Church. Dr. Pennington is particularly drawn to horses and cats, and she considers helping find a cardiologist to implant one of the first pacemakers in a cat one of the most memorable events of her career. Dr. Pennington also spent time during her childhood riding, showing and judging horses.
